Look back on this ‘Provocation” session that focused on generating an intense, meaningful, substantive discussion around the phrase: “In today’s world where technology is on your fingertips, and an ocean of information out there to grab; Do we then really need teachers?” This false notion, accepted by many as the reality of today, cuts at the very root of what the conference was about: Active Learning and its role to move forward with confidence.
In this fast paced 20-minute session, the participants gave their views, one way or the other. The facilitator interjected with his findings based on his doctoral research to prove or disprove a point. In the session two polls were run to see how many particpants were for or against at the beginning, and to ascertain if the needle had moved one way or the other by the end.
