15 minutes

Look back at this session that focuses on rewarding student engagement through Work Integrated Learning (WIL). Helene and Patricia have employed a specialised student-centric approach within higher education using work placements, in which they create a tripartite relationship between the learner, industry partner and educational institution to bridge the gap between theory and practice. Arising from the collaborations they developed the HUMANE framework. This framework establishes and shapes individual and collaborative capacity for enabling and encouraging meaningful engagement in active learning. They argue that the collective adoption of a humanistic lens positions individuals in being, belonging and becoming so that they can “move forwards with confidence in active learning”.
