Conference Subthemes
The themes for this year’s conference are as follows:
- I, Robot – Futureproofing teaching, learning and assessment in a world of AI. How can we make good use of artificial intelligence, and what are the truly human skills we need to promote to remain relevant in an automated world?
- Brave New World – Education for life in an uncertain future. How do we prepare our students to be well-rounded, socially responsible and resilient graduates? How do we prepare ourselves as educators?
- Stranger in a Strange Land – Embracing inclusivity. How do we anticipate future needs to make sure everyone feels at home? How do we ensure wellbeing in an increasingly complex environment?
- The Player of Games – Gamification and game-based learning. How do we make learning engaging and fun?
- Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy – Innovation and re-imagining the future. Wildcard topic.
Review Criteria
1. Connection to the overall conference theme – ‘Back to the future’, and the selected conference subtheme.
2. Level of innovation and relevance of the proposal for a wide audience.
3. Consideration that the content of proposal can be successfully delivered during the allocated time for the selected session type.
4. Interactive aspect(s) to engage the audience.
Session types
1. Short presentation and discussion: a presentation that will stimulate a discussion to develop the ideas presented. 25 minutes in total.
2. Interactive workshops: opportunities for collaboration, co-creation, or active learning. 1 hour.
3. Provocations: lively discussion inspired by a provocative quote. 25 minutes.
