Active Learning Conference 2025

Save the date! This year’s conference will take place on Tue 15th July and will be on the same theme as our Festival,  ‘Engaging hearts and minds through active learning’.

Registration is now Open. This is an online event and free to attend. Joining links will be sent to those who have registered nearer the date.

Conference Subthemes

The themes for this year’s conference are as follows:
  • Assessment and feedback – engaging students actively in assessment and feedback. How can we design assessments that encourage active learning, critical thinking and reflection? What role does feedback play in engaging students as active participants in their own growth?
  • Technology and media – harnessing technology for active learning. How might our students use technology and media to create, communicate and express themselves?
  • Collaboration – between students, between staff and between students and staff. How do we support each other (including students and colleagues) to become co-creators, producers and researchers?
  • Games – game-based learning and gamification. How do we make learning fun and engaging, while maintaining relevance and authenticity?
  • Wildcard and future gazing – you could focus on any active learning topic here; for example, how do we support staff and students in a GenAI world? How might we prepare ourselves and students for an unpredictable world?
