Session 1: What is creativity?

10am-11.30am Tuesday 4th November

What does creativity mean and look like? What are the connections that educators and their students make to creativity, whatever their discipline, in or out of the classroom? In this session our focus is broad, appreciating creativity as part of our life-wide experience or specific in relation to our interests such as critical reasoning.

Session 2: Teaching creatively

10am-11.30am Tuesday 11th November

How does creativity relate to our commitment in the ALN to active pedagogies? What methods, modes and media do we embrace? How does creativity help us to engage our students and how does it inspire us as teachers or facilitators of learning? How, for example, can creative pedagogy make assessment more authentic and meaningful? Is creativity always inclusive, and if not, what can we do about it?

Session 3: Teaching for creativity

10am-11.30am Tuesday 18th November

If creativity is valuable in higher education, how does it support our students as ‘becoming’ graduates? How can it help, for example, to develop psychological capital, resilience and agility, or innovator mindsets? What are the implications of developing creativity for the formal and informal learning environments we use?

Session 4: Coming together

10am-11.30am Tuesday 25th November

How do ideas such as co-creation and co-generation help us educators and researchers? What are the connections we have made across the three previous sessions? How do we make the case for embracing creativity in our institutional strategies and mission statements?
